Report from a team from Southside Baptist
Church, Baton Rouge, La.
Sunday, Aug. 3
Dear prayer partners, we wanted to let you
know how your prayers have been answered. The team of seven arrived
here on Saturday, Aug. 2, safe and sound. We spent a wonderful Sunday
morning in the mission church, Mision Jardines. One person accepted
Christ and several more made decisions to rededicate their lives
to Christ. We were blessed to be a part of their Lord's Supper and
were ministered to through their music. The service lasted until
nearly 2 p.m. After grabbing a quick bite of lunch we headed off
to a little mission church in the town of Canatlan. We spent an
hour with the struggling mission church--encouraging them and being
encouraged by them.
Monday, Aug. 4
This morning, the team left early and after
a day of visiting and showing the JESUS film, we left the small
village of Arnulfo Gomez with 11 new believers! Praise the Lord!
The response has been phenomenal. We can definitely see the results
of your prayers. The work has been so smooth. The desire for Bible
study and discipleship has matched the increase in number of believers.
Tuesday, Aug. 5
On this day the team left late and two stayed
behind, too ill to go out. When they returned late that evening,
two more soldiers had fallen to the bug that was passed around.
However, despite Satan's attacks on our physical bodies, there were
eight new believers in the village of Arnulfo Gomez. We give all
the praise and glory to the Lord and Savior. Nearly every home wanted
to have a Bible study. Even if no more work for the kingdom is done,
God has blessed with a new church of 19 members!!!
Wednesday. Aug. 6
This evening, the team split up and entered
into two villages--Los Pinos and San Jose de Gracia. In Los Pinos,
the JESUS film was shown in homes where five people accepted Christ.
In San Jose de Gracia, after seeing the JESUS film in a home and
being invited to accept Jesus, 10 people stepped forward to make
that decision. They all stated that they want to be involved in
a Bible study on a regular basis. In both villages, prayer walking
was done to prepare the way for the gospel presentation.
