Reaching the Songhai of Niger
To see a team of volunteers
go out to be Christ's hands, feet and especially His heart, was
an awesome thing. Nine volunteers from Fairforest Church in Union,
S.C., went to serve alongside missionaries Brad and Sally Womble
in Niamey, Niger. As we ministered to the medical needs of the Songhai
people, God opened doors to give them hope as we shared Christ through
a children's coloring book about the life of Christ, showed the
JESUS film or gave a smile, hug or a prayerwalk through
a village. A pastors conference to help train church planters turned
into heartfelt worship of our Lord each day. We left Niger knowing
that God had changed each of our lives forever and that we would
never be the same again. Niger truly is an "end of the earth"
place, but the need is so great to reach the Songhai people. I have
been called by the Lord to be an advocate for the Songhai work.
The needs are great for all types of ministry among the Songhai
people, such as prayerwalking to claim a village for Christ or handing
out Bible storying books and cassette tapes. Meeting medical needs
are a great way to get the gospel into the hands and hearts of the
Songhai people. Medical teams who answer this call of God will be
forever changed as they see God open doors and provide hope for
a people in darkness. If you or your church would consider going
to work among the Songhai, please contact Brad Womble at womble@intnet.ne,
Eva Hamlett at the IMB at ehamlett@imb.org,
or myself at jcandler2002@nuvox.net.
